L-Thyroxin 100 Berlin-Chemie 100 micrograms 100 tablets Levothyroxine sodium
What is L-Thyroxin 100 Berlin-Chemie?
L-Thyroxin 100 Berlin-Chemie is a pharmaceutical preparation primarily composed of the active ingredient levothyroxine sodium. Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4), which is crucial for the body’s metabolism, growth, and development. This medication is generally prescribed to treat thyroid hormone deficiencies, particularly hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce sufficient hormones. By supplementing the body with synthetic levothyroxine, patients can restore normal thyroid hormone levels, alleviating symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and sensitivity to cold.
This specific formulation, L-Thyroxin 100, delivers a dosage of 100 micrograms of levothyroxine sodium per tablet. The precise dosage is significant, as it allows healthcare providers to tailor treatment plans based on an individual patient’s needs. It is important for patients to follow prescribed dosages carefully, as an inappropriate dosage can lead to adverse effects or inadequate treatment. The tablets are typically presented in blister packaging, designed to maintain their stability and efficacy while ensuring ease of use.
L-Thyroxin 100 Berlin-Chemie is manufactured by Berlin-Chemie AG, a well-established pharmaceutical company known for its commitment to quality and safety. As part of the MENARINI Group, Berlin-Chemie is recognized for its extensive portfolio of medications and adherence to stringent manufacturing practices. The company holds various certifications, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), which endorse the safety, efficacy, and quality of its products, including L-Thyroxin 100. This reputable background instills confidence in patients and healthcare providers in utilizing this essential treatment option for managing hypothyroidism and other related conditions.
Usage, Benefits, and Potential Side Effects of L-Thyroxin 100
L-Thyroxin 100, which contains levothyroxine sodium, is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypothyroidism, a condition characterized by insufficient production of thyroid hormones. Dosage is individualized, often beginning with low amounts and gradually increasing based on patient response and thyroid hormone levels. Typically, healthcare providers may recommend starting doses ranging from 25 to 50 mcg, with adjustments made as necessary to achieve optimal therapeutic results.
The benefits of levothyroxine sodium in managing hypothyroidism are significant. Patients often experience a reduction in debilitating symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and depression. As thyroid hormone levels normalize, many individuals report improvements in their overall quality of life, including increased energy, better mood, and enhanced cognitive functioning. Furthermore, long-term management with L-Thyroxin 100 can help prevent complications associated with untreated hypothyroidism, such as cardiovascular issues and myxedema coma.
Despite its efficacy, patients should be cognizant of potential side effects associated with levothyroxine use. Common adverse reactions may include palpitations, nervousness, insomnia, and weight loss. In some cases, patients may experience symptoms of hyperthyroidism due to an excessive dose, such as increased heart rate and anxiety. Should any unexpected side effects occur, it is advised to contact a healthcare provider for guidance on dosage adjustment or alternative treatment options.
Precautions are essential when using L-Thyroxin 100. Patients with a history of heart disease, adrenal insufficiency, or a past episode of hyperthyroidism should disclose these conditions to their healthcare provider before starting therapy. Additionally, certain medications and supplements may interact with levothyroxine sodium, necessitating careful monitoring and possible adjustment of treatment to ensure patient safety and efficacy.
Description
L-THYROXIN (Levothyroxine) – is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Having enough thyroid hormone is important for maintaining normal mental and physical activity. In children, having enough thyroid hormone is important for normal mental and physical development. This medication is also used to treat other types of thyroid disorders (such as certain types of goiters, thyroid cancer). This medication should not be used to treat infertility unless it is caused by low thyroid hormone levels.

DESCRIPTION
Levothyroxine is a synthetic levoisomer of thyroxine (T4), similar to the endogenous hormone produced by the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is de-iodinated to form triiodothyronine (T3) in the peripheral tissues. T3 enters the cell and binds to nuclear thyroid hormone receptors, and the hormone-receptor complex in turn triggers gene expression and produces proteins required in the regulation of cellular respiration, thermogenesis, cellular growth and differentiation, and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. T4 and T3 also possess cardiac stimulatory effect. Further read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levothyroxine
